The Story, Power and Meaning of ‘Moses’ Staff’

Meaning of Moses Staff

Moses’ staff is symbolic of the signs and wonders of God. In the story, it signified that God is real, and that Moses’ message should be accepted as truth. The staff is a representation that ‘God is with you’ and that you are not alone in your petitions to the world.

The Story of Moses for kids summarized

The story of Moses freeing the Israelites in the Bible is a miraculous story. It is particularly relatable to young children, as they are fascinated by the miracles done by his rod. Moses was not a perfectly well-spoken individual, yet he was still able to accept his role in leadership, and be obedient to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. This story teaches the value of accepting yourself the way that God sees you, accepting the calling over your life, and - from Pharaoh - the importance of listening the first time.  It is important that children know and internalize that they can be leaders, and that with faith they trust that God can lead them through leadership step by step. Most practically, they can benefit in learning from Pharaoh’s mistakes, and be reminded to accept wisdom the first time. Ultimately, the story of Moses, is a great story to inspire obedience and leadership in young children.

Read the children’s bible version of Exodus 1 – 15.  I suggest reading it ahead of time, and giving them the ‘cliff note version’. Most importantly, feel free to indulge in the classic movie “The Prince of Egypt”.
