Teaching Objectives:

-To identify different emotions

-To identify that anger and other big emotions are common

-To identify safe and unsafe ways that emotions are expressed

-To identify the importance of sharing and being open about your emotions with a friend or a parent

The Way I Feel by Janan Cain

Illuminates each emotion page by page, with example scenarios for each. This is a great introductory book to this topic. I recommend this book to teach emotions to toddlers if you want something simple and short.

The Boy with Big, Big Feelings

Illuminates how a young boy goes through the ebb and flow of emotions during the day, and how his heart and mind gets so full with with these feelings that he doesn’t know how to deal. Much like the ‘Ruby Finds a Worry’ book mentioned earlier, it isn’t until he confides in a friend to talk about what he feels inside does he finally feel better.
